With its first seminar held in October of 1809, Wilhelm von Humboldt and his colleagues marked the foundation of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Honoring this milestone in the global history of higher education, the university will begin to celebrate its 200th Anniversary in October of 2009 tributing to outstanding academic achievements with exhibitions, international lecture series, art installations and a global alumni "home coming" event.
